Thank you very much for your interest in CHECK.  Sadly, the Board has made the decision that there will NOT be CHECK for the 2012-2013 school year.  The entity of CHECK will NOT dissolve and the Board will still meet over this next year to reevaluate our structure but we will not be holding weekly classes this year.  Throughout the year we will try to plan monthly get togethers under the umbrella of CHECK.  These may be one day "CHECK like" events where we plan classes and have activities for the different age groups, or they may be CHECK sponsored field trips.  We will continue to use the Yahoo and Facebook groups to make you all aware of these events.  We will look at restructuring our schedule and classes, advertising to the community, and then starting up again in the fall of 2013.  We feel very strongly that CHECK can fill a need in our community but also realize that many of our current families feel overwhelmed with busy-ness and they needed CHECK to provide more core classes this year, which it could not.

Over the last few years we have seen dramatic changes in the size and structure of CHECK.  This year our major challenge was trying to get enough classes to justify having CHECK.  Our returning families almost all stepped up to teach at least one class, many offered to teach even more, but no one wants to (or should have to) teach three or four hours at CHECK.  We are just a smaller group than we have been in the past and did not have many new families joining us.  Many of our families have opted to use other programs to fulfill their students needs and weren't returning to CHECK.  We could not sufficiently fill the grid and make it fit the needs of our families.

The Yahoo and Facebook groups will stay open and we encourage you all to stay in contact with us and with each other.  We also encourage you to "check" out the Tri City Homeschool Support Group (TCHSG) through Yahoo.  There are many local families doing many fun things and you can stay in the loop by becoming a part of their group also.   Many have expressed a desire to continue to do workshops, field trips or co-ops in lieu of CHECK and we would love to see this become reality.  Events that you would like to coordinate and run can be put out to the whole group and we can all stay in touch that way.  Realize though that the Board cannot help to plan or promote those events and they WILL NOT be considered CHECK sponsored events.

We know this decision may adversely affect some of you and we are truly sorry but we have to take in to account what is best for the group as a whole and for our individual family needs.  We hope that you will all be able to fill the CHECK "gap" with other fun and enriching activities this coming school year.  We pray that wherever you find yourself next fall that the Lord will continue to bless you and your children and your families as you walk through your homeschooling journey.

If you have any questions regarding our decision please feel free to contact us through this blog, the Yahoo group, or by direct email.
